Thousands of people flock to New Braunfels' rivers in the summertime for tubing, picnics and parties. "We have the perfect location," says Susan Phillips, the owner of A1 Vacation New Braunfels, a property management company. "We have a fantastic chamber of commerce for a town this size. We have good schools, a good climate, and a small-town community feel." Besides kayaking, tubing and swimming in summer, New Braunfels offers winter activities such as Schlitterbahn's Hill Country Christmas, antique shopping and Old Gruene Market Days. Many "winter Texans" stay in New Braunfels, attracted by the good weather, recreational activities at Canyon Lake and inexpensive restaurants.
The historic German town of New Braunfels is located in the heart of the magnificent Texas Hill Country. Austin is 40 minutes north and San Antonio is 30 miles east of New Braunfels.
