Gruene is where all the action is! Wildly popular with vacationers enjoying the Gruene Market Days, Gruene Music Fest, Wine & Clay Festivals. A tiny hamlet tucked in the heart of New Braunfels, Gruene is full of fun year round. A1 Vacation Gruene is managing the new, very elegant condos on the Guadalupe River called the Village at Gruene.
Choose a dip in the swimming pool or just jump in the cool Guadalupe River. Just doors down from the Gristmill Restaurant, Gruene Hall, New Braunfels General Store and the monthly "Gruene Market Days" grounds. The main draw is Gruene Hall, the oldest dance hall in Texas where movies, TV commercials and music videos have been filmed. The list of famous entertainers who have played there include Willie Nelson, George Strait, Jerry Jeff Walker, Lyle Lovett, Leon Russell, Two Tons of Steel, Rotel and the Hot Tomatoes, Asleep at the Wheel, Ray Wylie Hubbard, Dennis Quaid, Robert Earl Keen, Hal Ketchum and Hank Williams III. Gruene has been designated a Historic Town by the State of Texas, it is pronounced"Green". Known for fabulous shopping, restaurants, year round festivals, wine tasting and great music. The Gristmill, Adobe Verde and the River Haus Tea Room are well established eateries that are very popular with tourists and the locals.
The main attraction in the warmer months is tubing the Guadalupe River right in Gruene. Outfitters abound to service the tubers, taking them up river and picking them up at the end of their float. Kayaking, white water rafting are very popular as well as fly fishing are year round activities.
Henry D. Gruene, the founder, bought the land to raise cotton in 1872 with his family.
The old grist mill on the Guadalupe River has been transformed into the Gristmill Restaurant today with outdoor dining and entertainment. The Gruene Water Tower is the landmark that can be seen for miles.
Austin is 40 miles north, San Antonio is 30 miles to the south, and Houston is 160 miles east. Canyon Lake is 20 minutes by car upriver but hours and hours by inner tube!

The new Village at Gruene Condos are three doors down from Gruene Hall, on the Guadalupe River with a swimming pool, picnic tables and grills along the waterfront.
