Wurstfest is a huge beer and sausage festival in early November each year followed by Festagge, a series of Christmas activities, that run through December including Wassailfest and the downtown Tree Lighting. The Harley Davidson Hog Rally in 2008 was the largest in the nation and is held in April each year. Several Texas Wineries can be found throughout the area.

A1 Vacation New Braunfels is the number lodging and hospitality resource for runners and walkers.  Susan Phillips, owner of A1 Vacation New Braunfels, created the Jingle Bell Run and has directed the Wurst Five Mile Run for many years, the races draw thousands each year . There are six or seven runs per year at Landa Park and in Gruene. Cyclists also enjoy theTour de Gruene which featured Lance Armstrong in 2008!  The Adopotion Marathon will be held in Gruene each October and many more events are created each year.  TheNew Braunfels Running Club helps put on these fun events.

Enjoy year round golf at a dozen area courses. The Central Texas Men's Invitational Golf Fest is held each April and is wildly popular. Participating courses are The Golf Club in Seguin, Landa Park, Northcliffe, Quail Creek Country Club, Woodlake Country Club and Starke Park.

Tennis buffs enjoy Newks Tennis Ranchand TBM, where tennis academies draw young players from all over the world. There are water ski schools on Lake McQueeney and Placid.

The mild climate in New Braunfels allows walking and running year round and the Winter Texans do love to walk!
